Keep It Fresh

November 12, 2009

I just got back from a conference in Philadelphia. The conference was on public health, and my 2 presentations were on getting fit in the city. How ironic that I had no time to get fit--cab to train, train to city, cab to conference, shuttle bus to hotel, shuttle bus to conference, etc.... I even missed the jog/walk scheduled for 6:30 AM. We were supposed to end at the top of the steps of Independence Hall, recreating the scene from the movie "Rocky." What could be cooler than that? And yet, I preferred to sleep. Now I'm home in NYC and couldn't wait to teach my morning fitness class in Fort Tryon Park. But I sure could use someone to boss me around a little, to get me to work harder, go further, and not have to think about it .. to leave the driving to someone else. I'm feeling the need for a yoga class, to streth my spine and get rid of those kinks.

Isn't it true that every time you walk you are getting good exercise for yourself, and while you are sitting you can do some muscle building exercises that are very good for you?
So I am sure if I read your whole post, you would have told us that. Am I right?

Sandra, I do tend to wiggle and squirm and stretch at my desk, or at a conference, yes. And that certainly helps. My comment was more about the universal need for a coach and for guidance. Even me!
